Outer Banks Guidebook has some of the best pictures and most detailed information on Cape Hatteras, Bodie Island, Cape Lookout, Currituck Beach and Ocracoke lighthouses. Of particular interest are a comparison of the architecture of the Outer Banks Lighthouses (on the front page) and rare photos of the inside of the Cape Lookout Lighthouse.

Beach Bum’s Site is an Outer Banks, NC-based site that features photos of lighthouses from the Outer Banks and throughout the mid-Atlantic. It also has photos and otherwise-unavailable information on the area Life-Saving Stations and Lightships and a nice article on the Fresnel Lens.

New England Lighthouses: A Virtual Guide A site hosted by lighthouse tour guide, author, and lecturer Jeremy D'Entremont that features a comprehensive overview of New England’s lighthouses, complete with photographs and information on each one. It features a great introduction to the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse.

Picture Sites:

TheLighthouseHunters.com features photos from a husband-and-wife team of lighthouse fanatics who have visited 721 lighthouses in the United States (out of 811!) plus 413 in Canada. They have a field guide book called Lighthouses and Lightships of America: The Hunters Guide, and offer prints of the photos they’ve taken for sale.

Cyber Lights A very established site that features information, locations and photographs of many lighthouses in the United States, Canada, and Europe. The site offers a news feed, information on lighthouses to stay at, free lighthouse screensavers, and even lighthouse Flash games to play.

US Lighthouses is an established and really nice-looking site that features 2,800 photos of 383 lighthouses; most of these are in the United States and Canada, but a few international ones are also included. Most of the photos were taken by webmaster and lighthouse enthusiast Bryan Penberthy, but there are contributions from other lighthouse fans.

Lighthouses of the Mid-Atlantic is an Angelfire site with a collection of photos of lighthouses in North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina.
